Review of Farberware Millenium Stainless Steel Electric Percolator

We started looking for a way of making coffee without using the same old plastic drip coffee makers.  To our surprise, we were happy to find they still make stainless steel percolators.  In this age of way to many food contaminants and pollutants, we wanted a good cup of coffee with the least extra poisons or carcinogens in it as possible.  We felt like drip coffee makers could not possibly be safe or healthy. 

Why not drip coffee makers?  We were very concerned that boiling hot water was being routed through plastic parts and then dripped through coffee in a plastic basket and finally dripped into a glass pot.  That's a lot of boiling water in contact with a lot of plastic made in China.  It would seem the Chinese can't make anything these days without adding lead or other dangerous chemicals to it.  Boiling Water + Chinese Plastic could not possibly equal a safe cup of coffee.  If you can smell the plastic in the kitchen mingled with the smell of the brewing coffee, that plastic is getting in the coffee.  Even if the plastic does not have lead in it, how safe is the consumption of cup after cup of coffee day after day for decades with trace amounts of plastic polymers in it.

We have found that stainless steel percolators make an excellent cup of coffee.  The stainless steel percolator we purchased was the Farberware Millenium Percolator Model #FCP240 which brews 2-4 cups of delicious coffee at a rate of one cup per minute.  We bought ours at Macy's for $65.00, but you can get them cheaper on the Internet: $35-$45.  We were so ready to switch, we just paid Macy's price and had safer coffee without waiting a week for it to come in the mail.  If 4 cups is not enough, the Farberware Millenium Stainless Steel Percolator Model #FCP412 makes 12 cups of coffee.
